Physical Opportunity Scholarship
During the month of August we are accepting applications for our first Physical Opportunity Scholarship. The recipient of this scholarship will receive 6 months of CrossFit training and nutritional guidance for free. The winners will be selected based on a number of factors such as personal desire for change, a strong work ethic, a high commitment level and the amount of physical change possible (generally those most out of shape will be most qualified).
There will be two scholarships awarded, one male and one female. The application process is as follows:
1) Write a 500 word essay on why you are seeking this scholarship and why you should be selected
2) List age, height, weight, and sex
3) List name, phone, and email address
4) email the document to aaron@clevelandcrossfit.com
The scholarship recipients will be announced Monday, September 8.
Clarification update: The scholarship is for not for existing members, it is only for non-members. So please tell your family, friends, and co-workers of the opportunity.

I am 59 yrs (young), 5'3" tall, 184 lbs (too much), female.
I have been watching my diet and walking with weights. When I can, I join boot camp. But I have not been able to lose weight. I want to. I have heard that loosing 1 lbs of fat will remove 4 lbs of pressure on my joints. and that for every lb of fat we have 400 miles of capilaries (HBP) No doubt that will be important in the future. Why carry around stuff you don't need? I have a full schedule; work full time, and am an evening adjunct professor, with some evening seasonal work.
I may be an interesting subject for your program. I have sleep apoena and slower metabolism and like to work out and finish what I start. I will find a way to lose this weight around by middle, which is not good. I want to move from obese to the Ok weight level.
I also have a cousin who live wiht me and is diabetic. He alrady has had a heart attack but he is trying to lose weight. He is 60 year old, 5'4" and 240' lbs. So I am hoping we could work together if even one of us is selected.
Thank you for this opportunity to apply. I think it is a great idea.
Sincerely,
Mary Ellen Scott, Ph.D.
